NRM Primaries In Lubaga South Constituency, Musa Mbazira Declared Winer

The race for the NRM flag bearer in Lubaga South was tightly contested, with the following results:  Musa Mbazira, 369 votes; Derick Lufunya, 32 votes  

The NRM primary elections for the Lubaga South Constituency in Kampala District commenced at exactly 4:00 AM this morning, with voters turning up in large numbers to elect their flag bearer for the 2026-2031 general elections. The race for the NRM parliamentary seat in Lubaga South was contested by two candidates: Musa Mbazira and Derick Lufunya  

The electoral exercise at Kabowa Central Zone started promptly at 6:00 AM without any delays. The presiding officers ensured a smooth voting process as NRM supporters cast their ballots to choose their preferred candidate.  

 Musa Mbazira, who previously contested for the Kampala District Woman MP seat on the NRM ticket, faced stiff competition in this race. Other notable figures who had shown interest in the Woman MP race included Kenyangi Safina, Amina Lukanga (former RCC of Kampala), Namuli Joweria Zaake, and Nanfuka Shamim. However, only three of them had agents present, except Namuli Joweria Zaake, who did not have a representative at the polling station.  

Results for the Woman MP primaries at the Kabowa Central Zone polling station (Kampala District): Kenyangi Safina: 217 votes, Nanfuka Shamim: 18 votes, Lukanga Amina: 11 votes, Namuli Joweria Zaake: 0 votes  


The race for the NRM flag bearer in Lubaga South was tightly contested, with the following results:  Musa Mbazira, 369 votes; Derick Lufunya, 32 votes  

Supporters of Musa Mbazira erupted in celebration after his victory. They chanted slogans, expressing confidence that he will also win the 2026 general elections in January, describing him as a leader who understands their struggles.  

After being declared the winner, Musa Mbazira thanked his supporters and pledged to work closely with them, promising inclusive leadership.  

The election was declared free and fair by the NRM electoral committee, which was overseen by the Lubaga Sub-county NRM leadership. They confirmed that Musa Mbazira is the official NRM flag bearer for Lubaga South Constituency.  
 
This victory sets the stage for a heated 2026 general election, with NRM supporters rallying behind Musa Mbazira as their preferred candidate.
