Kyagulanyi Launches Presidential Campaign in Jinja, Unveils NUP Manifesto
Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, leader of the National Unity Platform, launched his presidential campaign in Jinja, Busoga, unveiling his party’s manifesto for the 2026-2031 election.
JINJA, UGANDA – The leader of the National Unity Platform (NUP), Robert Kyagulanyi Sentamu, has officially launched his campaign to secure victory in the 2026-2031 Ugandan presidential election. Kyagulanyi commenced his campaign trail in the Busoga region, starting in Jinja, where he also unveiled his party's manifesto, outlining his plans for the country should he be elected president.
The first major rally was held at the Buwenge playground, where he addressed a large crowd of supporters. He was accompanied by several prominent figures from his party, including the NUP Treasurer, David Lewis Rubongoye; John Baptist Nambeshe; the Leader of Opposition in Parliament, Joel Ssenyonyi; Pastor Andrew Muwanguzi; Paul Mwiru; and many others.
During his address, Kyagulanyi asked Ugandans to trust him and offer him their support so he can lead the nation. Key highlights from his manifesto include a commitment to:
  Repair the economy, with a specific focus on reducing unnecessary government expenditures.
  Invest in public health, particularly by ensuring the availability of medicines in hospitals.
  Fight corruption and ensure that leaders accused of plundering national resources are held accountable.
Kyagulanyi's campaign itinerary will see him proceed to Buyende and Kamuli districts tomorrow, after which he will tour other various regions across the country.
