King ceaser Mulenga has been nominated

In a strategic move to bolster economic advocacy within Uganda’s ruling party, King Ceaser Mulenga has been nominated for the position of Vice National Chairman for the Entrepreneur League on the National Resistance Movement (NRM) Central Executive Committee (CEC). The announcement, made earlier today on July 4, 2025, signals the party’s intensified focus on empowering business leaders and driving pro-growth policies ahead of the 2026 general elections.
Mulenga, a prominent entrepreneur and longtime NRM stalwart, was selected unanimously during a closed-door meeting of the Entrepreneur League’s leadership. His nomination now awaits formal ratification at the next NRM CEC plenary session scheduled for late July. The Vice National Chairman role oversees the league’s nationwide operations, focusing on mobilising business communities, designing entrepreneurial support initiatives, and advising the party on economic policy. Mulenga’s extensive background—founding multiple agribusiness ventures and serving as an advisor to the Ministry of Trade—positions him as a key asset in bridging the gap between the NRM and Uganda’s private sector.

This nomination underscores the NRM’s commitment to integrating business expertise into its governance framework. The Entrepreneur League, established in 2020, aims to nurture innovation and advocate for regulatory reforms to support SMEs. Mulenga’s expected appointment aligns with President Museveni’s recent calls for "economic patriotism" and domestic investment. Party insiders highlight his grassroots network and success in creating youth employment as critical to revitalising the league’s outreach amid economic headwinds.

Initial reactions from NRM members have been overwhelmingly positive. Joseph Mwanga, the league’s outgoing secretary, praised Mulenga as "a visionary who understands the trenches of Ugandan enterprise." Opposition figures, however, questioned the nomination’s timing, suggesting political motivations ahead of the elections. If ratified, Mulenga will immediately spearhead the "Enterprise Africa" initiative—a continental trade partnership program championed by the NRM. His ascent is poised to influence the party’s 2026 manifesto, particularly in job creation and industrial development pledges.

King Ceaser Mulenga’s nomination marks a pivotal moment for the NRM’s economic agenda. As the party consolidates its strategy for the upcoming polls, his leadership in the Entrepreneur League will be closely watched by investors and policymakers alike. The ratification vote later this month will determine whether Mulenga can translate his entrepreneurial acumen into tangible party reforms.
