Bukonzo West Member of Parliament, Hon. Atikins Katushabe, was this morning successfully nominated at the FDC Kasese District branch offices, confirming his intention to defend his seat in the upcoming party primaries.
This move comes in direct contradiction to a recent declaration by Speaker of Parliament Anita Annet Among, who had announced that Hon. Katushabe had defected from the Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) to the People’s Front for Freedom (PFF).
Speaking shortly after his nomination by the FDC Kasese District Returning Officer, Mr. Bwambale Ronald, and his deputy, Mr. Kanyabungu Francis, Hon. Katushabe dismissed the claims of defection. He clarified that he never submitted any communication to the Speaker indicating a change of political allegiance, and affirmed that his name was erroneously included among those who had crossed to PFF.
Hon. Katushabe reaffirmed his unwavering loyalty to the FDC, vowing to continue championing the party's values and interests.
The FDC party officially kicked off nominations today for Parliamentary seats, LCV Chairperson Positions, and City and Municipality Mayors. The nomination exercise will run until Tuesday, 17th June 2025, at FDC district branch offices nationwide.
