Gen Muhoozi Assesses UPDF Operations in Gulu, Briefed on South Sudan and DRC Missions

The Chief of Defence Forces (CDF), General Muhoozi Kainerugaba, yesterday arrived at the 4th Division headquarters in Gulu to assess ongoing military operations in the region. Upon arrival, Gen Muhoozi was received by the 4th Division Commander, Major General Felix Busizoori, alongside other senior military commanders

On his second day in Gulu, the CDF held a high-level meeting with the 4th Division commander and brigade commanders, who provided updates on ongoing security operations within Uganda’s northern region and beyond.

Key among the discussions were the ongoing military engagements in South Sudan and the Eastern Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC), where Ugandan troops are actively involved in stabilization and counter-insurgency efforts.

Maj Gen Keith Katungi, the commander of the neighboring UPDF 5th Division, also attended the meeting, underscoring the coordinated approach between different military divisions in addressing regional security challenges.

Gen Muhoozi’s visit highlights the UPDF’s continued commitment to ensuring stability both within Uganda and in neighboring conflict-affected areas. The briefings provided critical insights into the progress of operations and the challenges faced by Ugandan troops deployed in volatile regions.

The CDF emphasized the importance of discipline, operational efficiency, and cooperation among different units to achieve mission success.

While in Gulu, Gen Muhoozi is expected to visit various military installations and interact with troops on the ground. His assessment tour is part of a broader effort to evaluate the readiness and effectiveness of UPDF operations in northern Uganda and neighboring theatres of operation.
