FDC set to select its presidential candidate
The Forum for Democratic Change (FDC) has announced two candidates who will contest for president in the forthcoming election. This decision followed a process that began on April 28th, when the party invited all interested members to express their intent to vie for the position. Candidates were subsequently selected in May.
Addressing a press conference at the party headquarters in Najanankumbi, FDC spokesperson John Kikonyogo stated that the two chosen names are Patrick Amuriat Oboi and Nathan Nandala Mafabi.
Kikonyogo clarified that the candidates are expected to conduct prior consultations with the elders' league.
He further noted that the party has learned from past mistakes, citing a previous meeting with top party leadership from Soroti and Mbale that was intended to determine a candidate.
Kikonyogo also announced that a final consultation meeting will be held tomorrow. Following this, the national executive meeting will convene to determine the budget. The date for the delegates' meeting will be decided on Thursday.
Finally, Kikonyogo mentioned that the party might consider forming an alliance with other parties after completing its internal consultations.
