Operating Theatre at Health Center III stalled since 2021

Of the 9 health facilities in Butebo district, one is at the level of a Health Center IV that serves a large number of people.

Dr. Lawrence Owunyu says they have less equipment compared to the number of people they serve.

Dr. Owunyu says they need more qualified doctors and nurses, and they few are overwhelmed with work.

Some of the most common diseases they treat are diabetes, hypertension, TB, and other non-communicable diseases for which they advise people on prevention.

In Kachuru sub-county, the government released 800 million shillings to complete an operating theatre at Health Center III.

The engineer in charge embezzled over shillings 800 million meant for the building, no arrests since 2021.

The operating theatre equipment has been lying idle an effort from the government to improve health service delivery.

Kyeyune Ssenyonjo, The Residence District Commissioner Butebo, says they are tracking the engineer, as his whereabouts will soon be revealed.

Meanwhile, in Kumi district, they were fortunate to get Valley dams for livestock.

Though the one in Kodokoto shoddy works during its construction made it unutilized.
