For the arts teachers who expected their salary enhancements to be addressed this year they have to wait a little longer.However questions continue to arise whether the teacher will positively respond to the government  demand of resuming work.Â
The meeting which was conducted between teacher's and president resolved their salary increment to be effected next financial year in July.
Addressing a press conference at the media center the minister of higher education John Christorm expressed optimism that the teacher's were to resume work as it was agree.Â
Muyingo also stated that the payment was to start with 25 %which was to be effected in a phased manner. Muyingo also singled out the improvement of the teachers accommodation which was among the issues discussed was among orther issues
Speaking at the same briefing the state minister for finance and planning Amos Lugoloobi said that Government could not effect this payment because of the nature of the economy. He adds that 509 billion shillings was required to clear this payment    which was a recurrent expenditure.
Defending Government practice of bailing out investors as opposed to the teachers, the minister said that this was a one of a business investment plan yet the teacher's plight which was a long term plan.

Meanwhile the minister for public service Muluuli Mukasa said that this project was conducted after a clear consultative project with various stakeholders.Â
The arts teachers strike has gone for a third week demanding the schools administrators salaries to be increased from 2.2 million shillings to six million shillings.
The salaries for bachelor owners will be increased from 800,000 to 4 million shilling while diplomas holders salaries will be increased from 600,000 to 3 million shillings.
