1524 To Graduate At UCU, Female Students Performed Better Than Boys

Uganda Christian University in Mukono is set to graduate the highest number of students since its inception in the Academic World.

 

1524 students are set to graduate tomorrow, July 4th, in various disciplines, with 860 females and 664 males, with only 49 graduating with first-class degrees.

 

The Deputy Vice Chancellor of Finance and Administration, Dr. David Mugaw,e has attributed the increase in numbers to the serene learning environment.

“We're having our 26th graduation and 26th and part one. This university holds four graduations in the course of the year. The first one is what happens here at the main campus, the second one will be taking place in October, the third one is held at our campus in Bali, and the fourth one at our campus in Kabale,” He said.

Mugawe added that they have four graduations, that are why it's called part one. And at this 26th graduation,  as an institution, we are celebrating a milestone. This is the highest number of graduates they have had since the existence of this institution.

They are having a total of 1,524 students graduating. It's their highest number, and for that, they give glory to God. It's also a significant message that this institution is growing and has grown this far.

“I think the first entering students were about 200 students, so the first graduation was about 200, now we are having 1,524. And of these graduates, the female graduates are 860, representing 56% of our graduates are female. And that is very characteristic across our institution, that we have more female students on board. The male students who are graduating are 664, representing 44% of our graduates, and we do celebrate that. But in addition, we have first-class students, those who have excelled, those who have distinguished themselves over the course of their studies, and we have a total of 49 first-class students. Of these, 24 are female and 25 are male.”

Dr Mugawe congratulates their first-class students for having distinguished themselves in attaining our first class.

He revealed, the best male student, the best female student, and the best female student is Diana Nansubuga, and she had a GPA of 4.8. She was pursuing a Bachelor of Science in Computer Science, and she also happens to be the best science student as well. The best male student, who was also the best overall, is Timothy Kiarbo, who attained a GPA of 4.96, and he was pursuing a Bachelor's of Procurement and Logistics Management, and he also happens to be the best student in the Humanities and Arts.
