MP angry over delayed arts teachers pay raise

As the arts teachers demonstration approaches  a second week,workers' representatives are not impressed with the casual response to their plight. Workers Mp Agnes Kunihira Abwooli  says as a constituency which advocates for workers rights they remain concerned on the way this matter has been handled in a sarcastic way.

She made the remarks after under going nomination at NRM kyadondo head quarters.

Kinihira expressed concern on the way a number of employers have resorted for casualisation of labor where most of the workers are not on contracts.

She however says as workers representative continue to engage government to have the matter concluded.

The arts teachers demonstration started on the 6th of this month asking government to revise the existing  salary structures as opposed to the existing salary  scale of science teachers. Among the changes they  demand the salaries of head teacher to be enhanced from 2.2 million shillings to 6 million shillings.

The teachers also demand the salaries of graduate teacher at bachelors  to  be increased from 800,000 to 4 million shillings.
