President Museveni Opens Agriculture Trade Show

President Museveni thanked the National Federation of Farmers for uplifting agriculture in Uganda through their research, which has benefited farmers.

The President made these remarks during the 31st Trade Show in Jinja, along the Nile.

He sent this message through a representative from the Ministry of Agriculture and Animal Husbandry, Commissioner Paul Mwambu, who also highlighted the valuable contributions of the National Agricultural Research Organisation in promoting agriculture. He urged non-governmental organisations (NGOs) to work hand-in-hand with the government to support agricultural initiatives.

The National Research Organisation has already developed a pesticide called Afrasefu, which will help combat aflatoxins.

They have also discovered medications for tick control, addressing the issue of farmers receiving counterfeit products. This was a long-awaited project for the agricultural community.

Some farmers expressed concerns about the lack of proper medications for ticks that they have faced in the past.

Youth showcased the products they have developed, highlighting the positive impact of the NGOs on their growth and development.

This trade show will conclude this Saturday.
