The company that has been distributing electricity in Uganda for the past 20 years, UMEME, has officially concluded its operations, and the government-owned Uganda Electricity Distribution Company Limited (UEDCL) has now taken over. Â
Traders operating in the well-known Smart City Market (locally referred to as *Baza mu Kisenyi*) woke up this morning to a shocking situation their stalls were being demolished. They claim that those carrying out the demolitions are trying to forcefully evict them from the market. Â
Uganda Revenue Authority has presented a projected target of total domestic revenue of 35.692tn, of which tax revenue is 33.394tn and nontax revenue of 2.298tn in the next financial year 2025_2026.
