Nkozi Local Council Leaders Threaten to Discard Stamps Over Loss of Police Post

Local council leaders in Nkozi, Mpigi District, have threatened to discard their official stamps in protest against the removal of a police post from their area.

Led by district chairman Francis Bbuye, the 30 village chiefs have issued a one-month ultimatum for the concerned authorities to reinstate the Ggolo Police Station at Nabyewanga. Failure to do so, they warn, will result in them discarding their stamps in protest.

During a meeting attended by councilors, leaders expressed deep concern over the rising crime rates in the district. They emphasized the crucial role of police presence in maintaining law and order within their communities.

Together with Mpigi District MP Teddy Nambooze, the leaders resolved to submit a petition to the Inspector General of Police, demanding the restoration of the police post.

Meanwhile, Katonga Regional Police spokesperson, SP Majid Karim, confirmed that efforts are underway to re-establish the station.
