Land Dispute Erupts in Violent Clash Between Hoima Leaders

Tensions reached a boiling point in Kabale District, Hoima, as a long-simmering land conflict turned violent during a mediation meeting organized by Lands Minister Dr. Sam Mayanja. The confrontation pitted Kikuube Resident District Commissioner Amlan Tumusiime against area Member of Parliament Pius Wakabi in a dramatic showdown witnessed by local residents.  

 
At the heart of the conflict lies a contested 5-square-mile parcel of land in Zorobi Sub-county, with both government officials and local leaders making competing claims. The mediation effort, intended to calm tensions, instead descended into chaos as verbal sparring between the RDC and MP escalated into physical confrontation.  

 
Tumusiime didn't mince words, accusing Wakabi of failing his constituents: "The people are suffering because they elected leaders who don't help them," the RDC declared, his voice rising above the tumult. The MP fired back with equal intensity, though his exact retorts were drowned in the ensuing melee.  

 
Dr. Mayanja, who had orchestrated the peace meeting, watched as his efforts unraveled. Eyewitnesses described scenes of utter confusion as supporters of both camps clashed, forcing security personnel to intervene. The minister's attempts to restore order proved futile against the wave of pent-up frustrations.
