Police Grill Goat Thief After He Grills Stolen Goat in Kasese

Kasese, Uganda – Police at Kasese Central Police Station are holding a notorious thief accused of stealing goats from multiple villages in Nyamwamba Division, Kasese Municipality.

The suspect, identified as Muhindo Moses, a street food vendor and resident of Umoja Cell, Nyamwamba Division, was rescued from an angry mob by officers from Kizungu Police Post before being transferred to Kasese Police Station. Residents had attempted to lynch him after discovering his alleged involvement in the thefts.

SP Nelson Tumushime, the Rwenzori East Regional Police Spokesperson, confirmed the arrest to Salt TV, revealing that the suspect had been slaughtering stolen goats and cooking them in his restaurant.

Tumushime urged community members to cooperate with security agencies and local leaders to safeguard their property. He emphasized the importance of reporting suspected thieves to ensure swift arrests.

Meanwhile, the Local Council I (LCI) Chairperson of the area issued a stern warning to thieves, demanding they immediately stop stealing and slaughtering goats in his jurisdiction—or face severe consequences.

In an interview with Salt TV, Masika Shamim, one of the victims, explained that she had spent days searching for her missing goats before finding one of her sheep in Muhindo Moses’s house.

“My goats and sheep were helping me pay my children’s school fees, but Moses chose to steal them all,” she lamented.

The suspect remains in custody as investigations continue.
