Wife Killer Arrested, Faces Murder Charges in Uganda and Kenya

Justice Pursued for Murdered Wife as Suspect Faces Dual Murder Charges in Uganda and Kenya

Rogers Kurima, the 34-year-old man accued of brutally murdering his wife, Sharon Nelima, 32, in Bukitongo B village on March 12, 2025, has been arrested and remanded at Bubulo Government Prison. The arrest, made possible through a joint operation between Interpol and Kenyan authorities, has brought a sense of relief to the grieving community while exposing Kurima’s alleged violent history in both Uganda and Kenya.

A Gruesome Crime

The tragic incident occurred when Kurima, who had been living in Kenya, returned home and confronted his wife over allegations of infidelity. Witnesses reported that during a heated argument, Kurima attacked Nelima with a hoe, slitting her throat before fleeing back to Kenya.

The couple’s son, Denis Walukawu, recounted the horrifying ordeal, stating that his father had accused his mother of bringing other men into their home during his absence. After the murder, Kurima escaped across the border, leaving behind five traumatized children now in desperate need of support.

Cross-Border Arrest and Additional Charges

Thanks to the strong cooperation between Ugandan and Kenyan authorities, Kurima was tracked down and arrested in Kenya. However, further investigations revealed an even darker past—Kurima is also suspected of killing another person in Kenya before returning to Uganda.

Julie Namara, the Resident District Commissioner of Namisindwa, confirmed that Kurima will first face trial in Uganda for his wife’s murder. Once Ugandan justice is served, he will be extradited to Kenya to answer for the second murder charge.

“No criminal should believe they can escape justice by crossing borders,” Namara stated. “Uganda and Kenya have a strong partnership in ensuring fugitives are held accountable.”

Community Relief and Calls for Support

The arrest has brought a measure of comfort to the local community, who had been living in fear since the brutal killing. Many hope that Kurima’s prosecution will bring closure to the grieving family.

Meanwhile, concerns remain over the welfare of the five children left orphaned by their mother’s death and their father’s impending imprisonment. Local leaders and well-wishers are being urged to step in and provide support for the vulnerable minors.

Kurima is expected to appear in court in the coming days as investigations continue. Authorities have assured the public that all necessary measures are being taken to ensure justice prevails in both Uganda and Kenya.

As the case unfolds, many will be watching closely, hoping that this tragic story serves as a stern warning against domestic violence and cross-border crime.
