Kasese Families Grapple with Mysterious Child Disappearances

In Kagando II village, Kasese district, anguish grips Edward Muhindo's household as his six-year-old son Dalton Masereke has been missing since last week. The disappearance occurred when the boy chased neighbour Doreen Biira's poultry, sparking a chain of events that saw Biira arrested while Muhindo faced a 77,000-shilling fine from local council courts.

The distraught father now pleads for answers, demanding his son's return "dead or alive." Nearby, Edith Biira of Kagando I village recounts her own nightmare - her 12-year-old Arnold Mumbere vanished two months ago, costing the family 300,000 shillings in futile searches.

SP Nelson Tumushime confirms an alarming rise in missing children cases across the Rwenzori East region. The trauma recently forced one family to conduct symbolic funeral rites for their three-year-old, presumed drowned in the Nyamugasasen River.
