Elder Arrested for Child Sex Abuse in Mukono

Police in Nakisunga Sub-county have detained 68-year-old Silvesta Kyeyune for allegedly sexually assaulting two minors in Kisolooza village. The victims reportedly disclosed the eight-month abuse after receiving money from the suspect.

Kyeyune's wife admitted prior knowledge of his behavior, saying she had urged him to seek help. Local leaders expressed outrage, with women's representative Dorothy Nakityo demanding strict legal action against elderly offenders.  

Kampala Police spokesperson Patrick Onyango confirmed the arrest, noting charges are being prepared. The case highlights ongoing child protection challenges in rural communities.
