The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development organized a training session for judges to familiarize them with government programs and operations in the oil and gas sector, particularly in the Albertine Graben region.

The Ministry of Energy and Mineral Development has organized a special training session for judges to familiarize them with government programs and operations in the oil and gas sector, particularly in the oil-rich Albertine Graben region. The training was officially opened today at the Supreme Court in Kampala, with Uganda's Chief Justice Flavian Nzeija presiding over the session attended by judges of various ranks.

Minister of Energy and Mineral Development, Monica Musenero, was present at the opening ceremony, alongside the ministry officials who organized the training. The minister called upon heads of key institutions to participate in the program.

Among the notable attendees at the training session were Bank of Uganda  Governor Dr. Michael Atingi-Ego, as well as leaders from institutions dealing with mineral resources, including the Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), the Petroleum Authority of Uganda, and other relevant bodies.

Tomorrow, the judges are scheduled to be taken to districts including Hoima and Buliisa for field visits to inspect ongoing oil exploration activities. The tour will cover oil drilling sites, the airport, and other government infrastructure projects in the region, allowing the judges to gain firsthand knowledge of government operations.

Chief Justice Flavian Nzeija, who officiated at the event, urged the judges to pay close attention during their visit to Bunyoro and to carefully observe what they will be taught.

Nzeija stated: "This institution supports the government's programs and policies regarding the country's development agenda."

The Legal Director of the Petroleum Authority of Uganda made contributions highlighting key aspects of the sector.

Peter Mulisa, the Legal Director of Uganda National Oil Company (UNOC), also addressed the gathering, noting that UNOC has been operational for ten years and has performed well in its mandate regarding oil matters.

The judges' tour of the oil-rich Albertine Graben region is expected to conclude on Friday.
