Speaking as the chief guest at the Fourth Uganda Editors' Guild Convention 2026 held in Jinja City, Kasule Lumumba urged editors to uphold professionalism by avoiding misleading headlines and ensuring accuracy in news reporting.
The Minister for ICT, Information and National Guidance, Justine Kasule Lumumba, has commended media houses for promoting and prioritizing government programmes while carrying out their journalistic responsibilities.
Speaking as the chief guest at the Fourth Uganda Editors' Guild Convention 2026 held in Jinja City, Kasule Lumumba urged editors to uphold professionalism by avoiding misleading headlines and ensuring accuracy in news reporting.
The minister also praised the media for maintaining a strong partnership and collaboration with the Government of Uganda in advancing national development and public awareness.
The Director of the Uganda Media Centre, Allan Kasujja, highlighted the significant role played by Uganda's media in promoting the country's socio-economic transformation through responsible journalism and public information.
Meanwhile, the Secretary of the Uganda Editors' Guild, Sylvia Nankya, called upon the government to strengthen the relationship between media practitioners and security agencies. She also emphasized the need to uphold the rule of law to enable journalists to perform their duties in a free and secure environment.
