Intelligence-Led Operation Leads to Recovery of Stolen Motorcycles and Arrest of Suspects in Wakiso District

Kasangati, Wakiso District  

In a successful intelligence-led operation conducted today, February 18, 2024, at approximately 12:30 PM, Kasangati Police Station recovered several suspected stolen motorcycles and arrested four suspects. The operation took place in Wampeewo Cell, Wampeewo Ward, Kasangati Town Council, Wakiso District.  

Targeted Operation  
The operation focused on a garage owned by Walusimbi Asuman, a mechanic with a history of criminal activity. Asuman is suspected of purchasing stolen motorcycles, altering their registration details, and reselling them to unsuspecting buyers.  

Recovery of Stolen Motorcycles  
During the operation, police recovered a motorcycle with registration number UFR 309G (TVS), which had been reported stolen at Kanyanya Police Station by Ms. Namutebi Eva. Preliminary investigations revealed that the motorcycle’s number plate had been tampered with.  

In addition, five other motorcycles suspected to be stolen were recovered from the garage:  
- UEO 178G – Bajaj Boxer, red  
- UEB 674D – Bajaj Boxer, red  
- UDU 453M – Bajaj Boxer, red  
- UEB 348K – Bajaj Boxer, red  
- A numberless Bajaj Boxer, red  

Arrests Made  
The following individuals were arrested in connection with the illegal operation:  
1. Walusimbi Asuman – Owner of the garage  
2. Mulalizi Ismail – Brother to Asuman  
3. Kayiru Yekosofat – Allegedly brought the stolen TVS motorcycle to the garage  
4. Sekamanda Junior  

Charges and Ongoing Investigations  
The suspects have been charged with possession of suspected stolen property and are currently detained at Kasangati Police Station. Investigations into the matter are ongoing, and further updates will be provided as more information becomes available.  

Call for Public Vigilance  
The police urge the public to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities related to stolen property to the nearest police station. Community cooperation is essential in combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents.
