Over 500 Locals on Five Villages in Masaka District Made Homeless by Rich Man

Over 500 residents on five villages facing eviction from land have cried out for help. Residents have narrated that for forty years they have been battling it out in court with the Sowedi Kiwanuka the rich man for the land of over 60 acres.

Led by Abdul Razak Magara, residents gathered to meet

a judge from Masaka at Kamiti village where the land in question is located; to their disappointment, the judge did not come as expected.

Sowedi Kiwanuka who was once the chairperson of land commission in Masaka district in 1976, took advantage of this to robe occupants of their land.

Siting the death of their colleague Peter Kabisange allegedly killed by Kiwanuka in this land saga, the horrified residents appealed to the government for rescue.

Mugaruka Hussein the chairperson of the village hosting the land in question has expressed his concern, appealed to judges to handle this matter with swiftness, and called for present Museveni’s intervention.

All efforts to talk to Sowedi Kiwanuka were futile.
