Police and Army Lands on Guns & Armed Robbers Terrorizing Masaka Residents

The security operators in Masaka district have uncovered an SMG rifle alongside a group of robbers of DRC origin that have been petrifying the residents of Masaka. Three people have killed, many injured, and several robbed.

The 3 months operation started after the incident of 2 February 2019 where the robbers stormed cotton foundation in Bwala in Masaka town and other places leaving many injured.

During Esther, the burglars attacked Jagwe Lawrence a resident at his shop in kirunba village in Masaka town shooting him 4 times in the chest, which left him dead.

The last attack was in Nyendo town, leaving four shops robbed using the same gun. UPDF and police on 9 May arrested a youth with an identity card  in the names of Ssemivumbi Moses though he was saying that he is called Asuman Ssemifumbi a DRC citizen who came to Uganda in 1994, he was captured from Bujja village, Mukugwe sub county, where he has been residing & working with FFA as a  hospital cleaner. He led to them to place where police found the gun and the thug confessed that it is the very gun used, and other weapons like hammers, knives, and machete were found in the same place.

The head of investigations in the Kasajagirwa detach has notified that basing on the evidence gathered from the residents, plus one of the SMG riffle components found at Kasajagirwa 

incident where one of the robberies took place confirmed to them that this the very gun used in all incidents.
