Luwero Leaders to Benefit from Government Banana Seedlings

Leaders at the parish and village levels including Kamila, Kikyusa, Kalagala in Luwero district have been given improved breed banana seedlings in a campaign against hunger.

Waswa tamale the NRM chairperson in Luwero while handing over the seedlings to the chairperson, he rehearsed to them the significance. Ssemwogerere Jamilu the youth chairperson in Zirobwe sub-county one of the beneficiaries remarked that the youth have sidelined agriculture.

 Other benefiting leaders expressed their joy; some of the recipients could not wait to plant the seedlings into the gardens.

In the same locality of Luwero in Zirobwe through joint councils, women have formed development groups through which they have produced various products, which they displayed at the exhibition in Zirobwe including eats, drinks, mats, baskets, liquid soap, and many others.

Justine Nakate a women leader in Zirobwe Sub County stated that however much the government gives money to women development groups, it is not enough and the government should inject more funds to support the women councils.

Brig Gen Flavia Byekwaso the UPDF representative in parliament has emphasized that uplifting women should be given priority.

Hon Lilian Nakate Ssegujja the Luwero woman MP donated mama-kits to the pregnant woman present at the occasion.

Men and woman at the same occasion expressed their views and called upon government support to women project in order for them to become competitive globally.
