Pr. Bugingo Honors Fallen Bodyguard as a Hero, Praises Museveni for National Stability

In an emotionally charged service at House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI), Lead Pastor Aloysius Bugingo paid tribute to his late bodyguard, Richard Muhumuza, as a "hero of the church" who sacrificed his life to protect him during a January 2024 assassination attempt. The service, marked by fervent prayer and anointing, also saw Bugingo hail President Yoweri Museveni as his second hero for ensuring Uganda’s stability.

Pastor Bugingo recounted the night of January 2, 2024, when gunmen ambushed his vehicle in Namungoona, killing Muhumuza, a Special Forces Command (SFC) officer. "He died a hero, fulfilling his promise to take bullets for me so I could live to serve God’s people," Bugingo told the congregation, his voice breaking with emotion. "I lost a brother, but his sacrifice ensures the ministry continues"

The pastor pledged lifelong support for Muhumuza’s family, including his widow and infant child, vowing they would "never lack anything"

He urged Christians to emulate Muhumuza’s courage, outlining a path to heroism:

  1. Fear God: "True heroes begin with reverence for the Almighty."

  2. Work Hard: "Laziness has no place in the Kingdom; serve with diligence."

  3. Chase Fear: "The devil flees when you stand firm in faith."

  4. Reject Disease: "Claim divine health—Jesus bore our infirmities"

His message resonated deeply as believers lined up for anointing, with Bugingo praying for healing and breakthroughs.

Bugingo, a vocal supporter of the NRM government, praised President Museveni for maintaining national stability. "We worship freely today because of his leadership," he said, echoing Museveni’s recent warnings against foreign interference threatening Uganda’s sovereignty
