Christmas Lunga in Bududa: Saltmedia, HPMI Deliver Cheer and Essentials

The spirit of Christmas was felt powerfully in Bududa District on Saturday as the annual charitable drive known as the "Christmas Lunga," organised by Saltmedia and the House of Prayer Ministries International (HPMI), successfully distributed essential items to hundreds of residents.

A convoy from Kampala, laden with donations, departed on Friday evening and arrived at the Bushika Prayer Grounds, where a significant gathering was awaiting. The team was led by Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo, the Managing Director of Saltmedia and founder of HPMI, alongside his wife, Susan Makula Bujjingo, and a team of church elders.

The event took on a royal tone with the surprise appearance of the Umukuuka wa Bugisu, His Royal Highness Jude Mike Mudoma. The King commended the joint initiative, highlighting its importance. "I deeply appreciate the House of Prayer and Saltmedia for this act of charity, for sharing the joy of Christmas with the people of Bududa," the King stated. He then offered counsel to the gathered community, urging them to "vote wisely during the 2026 elections to choose a leader who knows their challenges and will address them."

Following the royal address, the distribution began. A vast array of items, including clothes, shoes, assorted foodstuffs, and soda, was given freely to the excited and grateful residents. The atmosphere was one of celebration and relief.

In his remarks, Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo redirected the praise to the donors. "We are just a channel. The thanks go to the generous people, the partners and well-wishers, who gave out these items to be a blessing to you, the people of Bududa," he said, emphasising the community effort behind the outreach.

The beneficiaries expressed profound gratitude for the initiative. Many residents, while thanking Saltmedia and HPMI for the much-needed support, also voiced a hope that such charitable missions would continue in the future, underscoring the ongoing needs within the region.

The successful "Christmas Lunga" in Bududa highlights the growing role of faith-based and media partnerships in community support and social welfare, particularly during the festive season, while also subtly underscoring the intersection of charity, culture, and civic education in the region.
