Woman Gives Birth to Quadruplets, Husband Abandons Her in Bombo Hospital

The woman was abandoned by her husband after giving birth to quadruplets.

A woman who gave birth to quadruplets in a single delivery has been abandoned by her husband at Bombo Military Hospital after doctors confirmed that Christine had delivered four babies. We found her in Kazo, Nansana Municipality, where she is currently struggling to care for her newborns.

When we visited Christine Nabwami at her home, we found her in extreme distress, overwhelmed by the demands of her four infants. Nakawere, one of the babies, was crying uncontrollably, wrapped in a small piece of cloth with only a cup for feeding.

Nabwami and her partner had been together since 2023 and were planning to celebrate three years together when the quadruplets arrived unexpectedly.

Nabwami had been receiving antenatal care at Bombo Military Hospital, but in her seventh month, complications arose, forcing doctors to perform an emergency scan. To her shock, she discovered she was carrying three babies, only to later deliver four.

Due to the intense pain and the unusually large size of the babies, doctors performed a C-section. The delivery resulted in two girls and two boys.

The news of quadruplets shocked the father, who immediately vanished, leaving Christine to fend for herself and the babies alone.

Since the babies were born prematurely at seven months, they require special care, which has been difficult for Christine. Good Samaritans at the hospital helped her, but her situation remains dire.

When she was discharged from the hospital, Christine had nowhere to go. Her partner had abandoned her, and her co-wife chased her away. She sought refuge at her brother’s home, but local leaders who found her there said the environment was unsafe.

We found her renting a small, cramped room, relying on the kindness of her landlord. However, even this shelter is insufficient for her and her four infants.

Nabwami cannot afford the necessities for her children. She lacks baby clothes, feeding bottles, and other essentials.

Well-wishers have tried to assist her, with some bringing food and supplies, but she says what she needs is a job so she can sustainably care for her children.

Local leaders, including the area chairperson, Nathan Bogere, have called for support to provide Christine with essential supplies. They also urged the father to take responsibility for his children since both parents are still alive.
