President Museveni to Pick Nomination Forms on Saturday

President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni, the National Chairman of the ruling National Resistance Movement (NRM), is expected to officially pick nomination forms this Saturday from the party's Electoral Commission offices in Kampala. This move marks the beginning of his journey to retain both the party chairmanship and the NRM presidential flag bearer position ahead of the 2026 general elections.

This development was confirmed by the NRM Electoral Commission Chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi. He stated that President Museveni, like any other interested candidate, would follow due party procedures by physically appearing to express his interest and collect the nomination documents.

“Like other candidates, the President and National Chairman of NRM will express interest and also pick nomination forms by himself,” Dr. Tanga Odoi told journalists, noting that the process is open to all eligible party members in line with the party constitution.

President Museveni has led Uganda since 1986 and has been the NRM's unchallenged presidential candidate in previous elections. His expected nomination reaffirms his continued interest in steering both the party and the country, as internal preparations for the 2026 electoral cycle intensify.

The NRM Electoral Commission has urged all candidates to adhere to the guidelines and maintain discipline during the nomination and campaign processes.
