FORT PORTAL, Uganda — President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni has underscored the significant advancements made by the National Resistance Movement (NRM) government in elevating service delivery across key sectors, while pledging continued progressive interventions to accelerate national development.
During an interactive session with journalists from the Tooro and Rwenzori sub-regions at the Fort Portal State Lodge, the President detailed the transformative impact of government investments in health, education, security, and justice, which he described as the foundational pillars of Uganda's development trajectory.
Citing expanded immunisation coverage, increased primary and secondary school enrollment, enhanced police-community relations, and improved court case management, the President highlighted measurable outcomes that reflect the government’s commitment to human capital development and institutional strengthening.
Looking ahead, President Museveni assured the nation of further strategic interventions designed to spur growth in agriculture, industrialisation, digital innovation, and infrastructure. He emphasised that sustained investment in these sectors is critical for achieving middle-income status and ensuring equitable prosperity.
The engagement with local media also provided a platform to contextualise regional development projects, including road networks, energy access, and value-addition initiatives in the Tooro and Rwenzori regions, linking them to the broader national agenda.
Analysts observe that while progress in service delivery has been documented, persistent challenges—including regional disparities, resource constraints, and population growth—continue to test the scalability and sustainability of these gains.
Nevertheless, President Museveni’s reaffirmation of commitment signals a continued emphasis on governance performance and results-based leadership as Uganda approaches a new phase in its development planning.
