n a significant move to bolster their political influence, the Patriotic League of Uganda is actively campaigning and mobilising support as the country approaches the elections. The league is focused on gaining traction among the electorate, particularly in the Buganda region, where they aim to make substantial inroads.
Frank Gashumba, a prominent leader within the organisation, highlighted the importance of the league's office, which, according to him, is experiencing a resurgence in activity. He emphasised that everyone is welcome to engage with the league, which has become a vital forum for political discussion and support.
Gashumba expressed concerns about the challenges posed by competing political factions, noting that this electoral period has witnessed significant tensions. He remarked, "Those who were previously cautious are now energised, and while the political landscape remains contentious, we are seeing increased engagement from the people of Buganda."
Honourable Sanjay Tanya, who oversees the league's initiatives in Eastern Uganda, urged constituents to prioritise thoughtful discussions about financial matters, advocating for a collaborative spirit among leaders and the broader community to strengthen national unity ahead of the elections.
National Vice Chairman Nuwagira Michael Toyota Kaguta assured supporters that their office will operate both day and night diligently. They are strategising to build stronger backing for President Museveni, particularly in Kampala, where they are organising events to rally public support.
Toyota has called upon league members to unite their efforts, stressing the importance of showing solidarity for President Museveni's policies and governance as they prepare for election activities across the divisions. The Patriotic League has identified support for 52 groups within each division to enhance community representation and encourage voter turnout.
As the electoral season heats up, the Patriotic League of Uganda continues to encourage civic engagement, aiming to solidify its presence and influence in the political arena.
