KAMPALA, Uganda – Pastor Aloysius Bujjingo, the founder and lead pastor of House of Prayer Ministries International, today paid a courtesy visit to the Speaker of Parliament, Rt. Hon. Jacob Oboth Oboth, at Parliament House in Kampala.
The pastor was accompanied by Charles Ssenkubuge, the Special Programmes Director at Salt Media, alongside other members of the House of Prayer Ministries . The meeting comes just months after the inauguration of the 12th Parliament in May 2026 .
During the meeting, Speaker Oboth expressed gratitude to Pastor Bujjingo for his public testimony regarding the Speakership election. Bujjingo, who preached about Oboth's victory, had reportedly spoken about how the Speaker secured the position without resorting to financial inducements .
The Speaker, who was elected on May 25, 2026, after securing 441 votes against Paul Mwiru's 60 and Norbert Mao's 15, has pledged to lead a corruption-free Parliament anchored on accountability and integrity .
Speaker Oboth pledged to maintain a strong relationship with spiritual leaders as a way of fostering peace and harmony at the August House. He emphasized that spiritual guidance remains vital for the effective functioning of Parliament and the nation at large .
The Speaker noted that collaboration with faith-based institutions complements government efforts in addressing both spiritual and material needs of Ugandans .
Pastor Bujjingo described the moment as memorable, noting that he had always desired to meet the Speaker. In line with the performance of the 12th Parliament, pr Bujjingo prophesied good performance following what he described as a positive working relationship between the Speakership and the Leader of the Opposition .
He expressed optimism that the 12th Parliament would deliver results-driven legislation and enhanced oversight for the benefit of ordinary Ugandans .
The meeting culminated in an exchange of gifts, with Pastor Bujjingo presenting a Bible to Speaker Oboth as a symbol of spiritual guidance and blessing for his tenure. The Speaker reciprocated by acknowledging the pastor's contributions to the nation's spiritual and social development .
This visit is not Pastor Bujjingo's first engagement with government leadership. In October 2025, Prime Minister Robinah Nabbanja commended Bujjingo for complementing government efforts through initiatives like the Church Girl Foundation, which equips girls with essential skills such as tailoring, baking, and making sanitary towels .
Pr Bujjingo, who was named the most influential born-again preacher in Uganda by the East Africa Book of Records, leads a ministry that has grown from humble beginnings in Bat Valley Theatre to establishing Salt FM and Salt Television .
