In a strategic mobilization drive, NRM youth leaders from all 27 districts of Buganda have launched the "NRM Youth Foot Bigere" initiative at Metha Grounds in Lugazi, Buikwe District. The movement aims to counter the party's declining fortunes in Uganda's central region following poor 2021 election performance that saw even cabinet ministers lose seats.
Â
The launch, originally slated for President Museveni's attendance, proceeded with Buikwe Woman MP and Minister of State as chief guest. She delivered the President's message urging youth to leverage government programs like Parish Development Model to fight poverty. However, visible discontent emerged as Mathias Ssemanda, the Buvuma Islands youth leader, expressed frustration: Â
"We expected the President to personally address our concerns about unemployment and political exclusion. Sending representatives isn't enough when our issues need direct intervention." Â
