NRM Primaries Stir Mixed Reactions Across Greater Masaka Region

Several NRM leaders across the districts thanked President Museveni for guiding an orderly nomination process.

Greater Masaka, Uganda – As the NRM prepares to announce flag bearers for district chairperson and mayoral positions tomorrow, party members across the region express both optimism and frustration over the nomination process.

In Rakai District, Robert Ssesanga emerged victorious in the hotly contested NRM primaries for district chairperson after two opponents withdrew from the race. "This demonstrates our party's strength when we unite behind one candidate," Ssesanga told supporters.

Javira Ssemwanga, the Chairperson of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) District, commended the consensus approach.
Juliet Suubi Kinyamatama, a Woman Member of Parliament, underscored the importance of party unity.
Samuel Kaggwa Ssekamwa, the outgoing Chairperson, urged support for the sole flag bearer.

Former opponents John Kasiiba and Godfrey Bazungu explained their withdrawal: "We stepped aside for party cohesion after seeing Ssesanga's grassroots connection."

NRM leaders in Bukomansimbi, led by Chairperson Shafik Mwanje, expressed confidence about tomorrow's nominations. "We're taking all positions uncontested this time," Mwanje declared, warning opposition parties not to waste resources campaigning.

The Lwemiyaga constituency remains tense after last week's primaries between Ssekikubo and Eddy Moni Bwire. Supporters of Bwire, who lost to Gen. Muntu Kanyamunye, continue disputing the results, vowing to "fight until our victory is recognized."

Several NRM leaders across the districts thanked President Museveni for guiding an orderly nomination process. Rakai's Kinyamatama noted, "The President's wisdom helps us avoid costly internal divisions."
