NRM Primaries in Lwengo District Hit by Campaign Disarray

Lwengo, Uganda – The NRM party primaries in Lwengo District have descended into confusion after failed joint campaign plans, sparking frustration among aspirants and raising concerns about fairness in the electoral process.

The NRM Electoral Commission’s unified campaign initiative failed due to logistical issues and poor coordination, forcing candidates to campaign alone. Allegations of favouritism and logistical shortages, including a lack of campaign materials, have also been raised.

Kiyimba Emmanuel (Bukoto MidWest MP aspirant, yellow shirt):
"We were promised joint campaigns, but nothing was arranged. Now we must campaign alone, which is costly and divisive."

Lubega Joseph Bazoonona (LC5 aspirant, yellow shirt):
"The NRM leadership failed us. If they can’t organise campaigns, how can they manage elections?"

Shamim Kavuma Nyinamashilling, a woman MP aspirant from Gomesi, says women candidates face challenges due to limited resources for separate campaigns. Hajji Muyanja Mbabaali, a Bukoto South MP aspirant, demands transparency and explains why joint campaigns were abandoned.

NRM officials are ready for joint campaigns once materials arrive. Defying NRM guidelines risks disqualification as party rules mandate unified campaigns.
