The NRM party registrar, Hajjat Hadijja Namyalo, has raised serious concerns about the ongoing internal elections, particularly regarding the party register.
Â
Speaking from her office at Kyambogo, Namyalo stated that the current register is flawed, which has led to confusion and disputes among candidates. Â
Â
Namyalo, who oversees the Office of the National Chairman (ONC), emphasized that the register was not properly updated, causing irregular elections at various levels—from villages to sub-counties. She also noted that some supporters affiliated with the ONC have secured leadership positions in these internal polls. Â
 Â
The current disputes arise from an unverified register. What remains now is to engage with these supporters and see how they will perform in the national leader’s elections. Â
Â
Â
Namyalo further urged the winning candidates not to limit themselves to internal party contests but to prepare for national elections. She cautioned against infighting and stressed the need for unity. Â
Â
Â
I encourage our supporters to avoid conflicts that don’t build the party. Let’s focus on moving forward and competing in broader elections.Â
Â
Â
She also criticized the roles of RDCs (Resident District Commissioners) and RCCs (Resident City Commissioners), accusing them of interfering in the elections and disregarding proper procedures. Â
Â
Â
The RDCs and RCCs have overstepped their mandates, issuing directives that contradict the party’s guidelines. Â
Â
Â
Some ONC supporters who won positions in the elections have pledged to push for the party’s broader success. Â
Â
Â
All eyes are now on the NRM’s final internal elections, set for this Friday. The ONC office is optimistic about securing 50% of the positions. Â
