Tanga Odoi Investigates NRM Election Violence in Sembabule

The National Resistance Movement (NRM) Electoral Commission chairperson, Dr. Tanga Odoi, has expressed deep concern over the violent incidents that marred the recent party primaries in Sembabule District, where the electoral process turned deadly. Odoi has pledged a thorough investigation into the matter to ensure justice prevails.

In related developments, Odoi publicly rebuked Tororo Woman MP Sarah Opendi, accusing her of engaging in divisive politics. He specifically referenced her controversial "drowning in July waters" remarks, interpreting them as inflammatory. Odoi warned that such rhetoric could destabilize Tororo District, prompting potential presidential intervention to restore order.
NRM spokesperson Emmanuel Dombo confirmed that President Museveni will preside over the party's National Delegates Conference at Kyadondo tomorrow morning at 4:00 AM. The agenda includes vetting presidential nomination forms and officially endorsing Museveni as NRM's flagbearer for the upcoming elections.
Dombo revealed that the President will address 800 invited guests after submitting his nomination papers. Notably, the number of Central Executive Committee (CEC) aspirants has surged, with many young candidates citing generational change as their motivation.
Meanwhile, nominations for parliamentary seats gained momentum as Lands Minister Judith Nabakooba successfully submitted her papers to contest the Mityana Woman MP seat. Other hopefuls urged voters to trust them with their party membership cards.
In Kampala, NRM members vying for the Lord Chancellor position began collecting nomination forms. Prominent among them is Kizito Jamal Din, who pledged to eliminate garbage in the city and champion residents' rights if elected.
