The NRM Electoral Commission has granted General Moses Ali permission to campaign alone for the party flag in Adjumani, citing health complications. The General joins a few other party leaders serving in senior positions, such as the Vice President, Prime Minister, and the Minister in charge of Information, who are currently accompanying the President to follow up on the Parish Development Model (PDM) program.
Speaking to the press at the party headquarters in Kyadondo, party chairperson Dr. Tanga Odoi, however, confessed that General Ali is not in such a bad condition that he cannot take part in party politics. Odoi also confessed to having received court summons after the commission was dragged to court by a section of Ugandans challenging Ali's contest in any election.
The General's condition while picking nomination forms at the party recently raised questions when he looked frail, leading to speculation about his health. This was evidenced by Dr. Tanga nominating him in his car.
Tanga further stated that the commission has suspended campaigns in four constituencies to avoid bloodshed. These include Isingiro South, Kalaki, Mbale, and Bwamba, after an incumbent sustained injuries when attacked.
Responding to queries surrounding the instabilities in Sembabule, Tanga expressed satisfaction that the region is not at peace after engaging the two opponents contesting for the same positions.
