Nowomugisha Sadrack Nzeire Kaguta Contests NRM Western Region Vice Chairmanship.
Nowomugisha Sadrack Nzeire Kaguta, brother to Uganda's President Yoweri Museveni, has expressed his determination to contest for the position of Vice Chairman of the National Resistance Movement (NRM) for the Western region.
Addressing top leaders of the NRM at the party's secretariat and electoral commission, Nzeire countered arguments from competitors who wanted him to step down from the race due to his familial connection to the president.
Nzeire emphasised that as a Ugandan, he has every right to participate in politics like any other citizen. He is vying for the position of NRM Vice Chairperson for the Western region in the upcoming NRM Central Executive Committee (CEC) elections scheduled for August 27, 2025, at Kololo National Grounds.
Unity and Service Delivery: Nzeire has warned against politics of identity, emphasising the need for unity among Ugandans and focusing on service delivery rather than personal gains.
Leadership Experience: He highlighted his experience serving as NRM chairperson for Kiruhura District for 15-20 years, where he reportedly delivered 99.8% of the vote for the party.
Goals for Western Region: Nzeire aims to bring industrial development to areas like Masaka and rebuild trust between the Buganda community and the NRM party.
The NRM CEC elections are part of the party's Delegates' Conference happening on August 27-28, 2025. Nzeire is among several candidates contesting for the Vice Chairperson position for the Western region.
