Minister Balaam Barugahare Calls for Unity Ahead of 2026 Elections in Masindi

Masindi, Uganda – Dr. Balaam Barugahare Attenyi, the State Minister for Children and Youth Affairs, has urged residents of Kigulya Division, Masindi District, to support President Yoweri Kaguta Museveni and the NRM party in the 2026 elections, emphasizing the government’s commitment to resolving land disputes in Bunyoro.

 1. Land Dispute Resolution  
- The meeting, held at Kigulya Primary School, focused on addressing longstanding land conflicts between:  
  - Kigulya Primary School (government-owned since 1971)  
  - Hoima Catholic Diocese (claiming ownership of 20 acres)  
- Dr. Sam Mayanja (State Minister for Lands) directed the Masindi District Land Board to:  
  ✅ Divide the contested land equally (10 acres each) within 3 months.  
  ✅ Suspend new land titles until the dispute is fully resolved.  

 2. Government’s Stance  
- Minister Balaam warned against illegal land grabs, stating:  
  "Government land must serve public interest—not individuals!"  
- RDC Pensive Tukasiime and DPC Masindi were ordered to provide security and arrest Godfrey Bitatule, accused of selling part of the school’s land.  

 3. Political Mobilization for 2026  
- Minister Balaam rallied support for President Museveni, highlighting NRM’s development record in Bunyoro.  
- Phiona Barungi (Presidential Advisor on Land) assured residents of fair resolutions to land issues.
