Intra-Party Friction Surfaces in Greater Masaka

Political Tensions Rise in Greater Masaka as NRM Solidarity Group Mobilizes Youth Support

MASAKA – A charged political atmosphere has emerged in Greater Masaka following the launch of the NRM Solidarity movement, a youth-focused initiative aimed at galvanising support for the ruling party ahead of upcoming elections. The group's inaugural meeting saw heated exchanges as some members openly criticised colleagues for what they termed "political hypocrisy."

The movement's patron, Magezi John, emphasised unity, stating: "We must work through this platform to support all NRM leaders, especially those serving disadvantaged communities." However, tensions flared when some members accused certain politicians of duplicity—claiming public allegiance to President Museveni while privately undermining party efforts.

Major Kansime (Internal Security) issued a stern caution against internal sabotage: "Those playing double games with party vehicles shouldn't expect leniency. We're monitoring all actions that could weaken NRM's dominance from presidential to local council races."

Security Officials Sound Warning

NRM Masaka Municipality Chairman Rogers Bulegeya outlined ambitious goals: "Our mission is clear—deliver overwhelming victories for President Museveni and all NRM candidates across Greater Masaka." The solidarity group plans extensive voter mobilisation drives, targeting both urban and rural constituencies.
