Wakiso District Chairperson Races to Secure Ambulance for Kajjansi Health Center IV

In a swift response to public outcry, Wakiso District Chairperson Dr. Matia Lwanga Bwaniga has personally intervened to secure an ambulance for Kajjansi Health Centre IV, following revelations that the entire district, which serves eight constituencies and 27 sub-counties, had only one functional ambulance.

During an emergency health sector meeting, Dr. Bwaniga directed the district health department to immediately deploy the newly acquired vehicle to Kajjansi, while sternly warning hospital administrators against using it for non-emergencies, such as corpse transportation.

Dr. Simon Peter Bulwa, head of Kajjansi HC IV, highlighted the critical need, revealing that medical teams currently struggle to reach remote areas like Bussi Islands using motorcycles. While District Health Officer Dr. Emmanuel Mukisa acknowledged systemic challenges, including understaffed facilities, he expressed optimism about gradual improvements in emergency response capabilities.

The intervention comes as Wakiso, despite its urban proximity to Kampala, grapples with severe healthcare resource disparities, forcing residents to endure dangerous delays in critical medical care.
