The ministry meet EAC, Global Fund, African Union on health financing

The government, through the Ministry of Health, has reminded stakeholders to reschedule budgeting priorities to increase health funding as the majority of donors and partners continue to pull out.

The ministry is meeting stakeholders from EAC, Global Fund, African Union, among others, to discuss health financing.

Public health director Dr Daniel Kyabayinze says the government has for long failed to reach the 15% health budget funding as per the Abuja declaration, and this has continued to affect health promotions, care, preventive and curative health aspects.

Parliament is considering the  71.4 trillion 2025_2026 budget, where experts have warned and advised that key health priorities be redesigned to suit the development agenda by equally improving and increasing funding in the health sector.
