Seven Injured in Mukono Accident as Truck Crashes into Hotel

More than seven people were injured, with some in critical condition, following a tragic accident in Mukono this morning. The incident occurred when a truck lost control and crashed into a hotel, leaving several victims with severe injuries.  

The accident happened along the Jinja-Kampala highway in Mukono town. A Fuso truck, registration number UBB 392M, which was heading from Kampala to Jinja, reportedly lost its brakes and collided with a Drone taxi, registration number UBN 241L, traveling from Jinja to Kampala. The truck then veered off the road and crashed into Gold Plate Hotel, causing significant damage to the building.  

The accident occurred between 11:00 AM and 12:00 PM, and the injured were rushed to nearby hospitals for emergency treatment. Medical personnel are working tirelessly to save the lives of the victims, some of whom have sustained head injuries and are in critical condition.  

Eyewitnesses reported that the truck driver appeared to be struggling with the vehicle's brakes before the crash. Anthony Niwagaba, the hotel manager, described the terrifying moment when the truck crashed into the building, destroying everything in its path. He revealed that the hotel staff and customers were having breakfast when the incident occurred, causing panic and chaos.  

Some hotel employees expressed frustration over the incident, stating that the truck driver seemed to be speeding and failed to control the vehicle. They called on the police to increase traffic enforcement in the area to prevent similar accidents in the future.  

The accident has left the community in shock, with residents urging authorities to take immediate action to improve road safety and prevent further tragedies.
