Measles Outbreak Confirmed in Kasese District

The Ministry of Health has confirmed a measles outbreak in Kasese district, following the positive test results of three children under 10 years from two families in Irrigation Scheme Ward and Karusanda Sub County.

According to Dr. Amon Bwambale, Kasese District Health Officer, the outbreak was likely caused by frequent movement of children, misconceptions about immunization, and lack of community awareness about the disease.

Dr. Bwambale urged community members who missed immunization to vaccinate their children to prevent the spread of measles.

Abdul Magezi, Community Development Officer for Nyamwamba Division, attributed low immunization turnout to politicians opposing government programs.
