Kiwanga Kawoto, Mukono District – As the nation prepares to celebrate the birthday of Kabaka Ronald Muwenda Mutebi II , residents of Kiwanga Kawoto in Mukono District have launched a massive cleanup campaign to promote sanitation and national pride.
The community, joined by local students, leaders, and police , cleared drainage channels, swept roads, and collected garbage in a spirited effort to improve public health and beautify the area.
District Leaders Rally Community for "Bulungi Bwansi"
Robert Ssozi , a representative from Mukono District Council , emphasized the importance of cleanliness ahead of Sunday’s celebrations:
"We want this Sunday to be a true reflection of hygiene and discipline. A clean environment is a gift to our Kabaka and ourselves."
Local health and sanitation officials pledged to sustain the efforts, ensuring that the cleanliness drive extends beyond the Kabaka’s birthday.
Police Urge Public Health Vigilance
ASP Ayo Frank , OC of Kiwanga Police Station , warned that poor sanitation breeds disease and called for cooperation with local authorities:
"Cleanliness prevents outbreaks. We urge residents to work with health and security agencies to maintain a safe environment."
Community Leaders Appeal for Sustained Efforts
Village chairpersons praised the initiative but called for government support to maintain progress.
"We need bins, garbage trucks, and public awareness to sustain this momentum," one leader said.
