Hoima Regional Referral Hospital is involved in issues of multiple thefts of very many things in the hospital.
According to the Assistant Director State House Health Monitoring Unit Dr. Elijah Semaganda, the Hospital is involved in the multiple thefts of very many things in the hospital including theft of batteries of new cars, theft of medicines at the hospital, theft of laptops, theft of lightning conductors and vandalism.
He says they have established that it is true that such thefts are occurring at the hospital and one staff member is currently under investigation over theft.
Dr. Semaganda explains that other cases have been handled by the Hospital’s Reward and Sanctions Committee.
He made the remarks last evening during a community Baraza organized by the State House Health monitoring Unit on services offered by Hoima Regional Referral Hospital held at Booma grounds in Hoima city.
He notes that the hospital is facing several challenges but as a team from the State House Health Monitoring Unit they are working closely with hospital administration to ensure that the services are improved.
Dr. Semaganda reveals that he is going to flag the need for the hospital mortuary and additional specialized staff at the facility as emergencies that should be addressed.
While addressing concerns of the UPDF deployed at the gate of the facility checking users of the facility, Hoima city RCC Badru Mugabi said that the checking intends to detect and intercept any wrong doers targeting the facility.
Dr. Ibrahim Bwagga, the Hoima regional referral hospital director noted that they have staffing challenges where they currently stand at 27%.

He also highlighted several other challenges being faced by the hospital like the absence of a mortuary and the cemetery.
Meanwhile, residents of Hoima City have raised a number of issues hindering service delivery at Hoima Regional Referral Hospital.
