UNEB Declares Readiness for New Curriculum Assessments Amid Training Push

UNEB confirms preparations to engage stakeholders and train teachers for the new curriculum.

Uganda National Examinations Board (UNEB) confirms preparations to engage all education stakeholders, ensuring teachers are fully trained to implement the new curriculum and yield positive outcomes.

The government (through the Ministry of Education) previously facilitated the rollout of the new curriculum to students in 2020, introducing continuous assessment, regular evaluations helping students develop diverse competencies.

Exams under the new curriculum last year, many schools, students, and parents expressed confusion about the grading system. UNEB has therefore initiated training workshops for education stakeholders, starting last week.
Today, UNEB convened district education officers and school administrators nationwide to review assessment reports under the new system.

The head of Curriculum Research at UNEB  confirmed comprehensive research into the curriculum’s implementation.
She emphasised the critical need for enhanced teacher training and upskilling of curriculum facilitators.

Dr. Celestine Obua, Chairperson, UNEB Governing Board, assured stakeholders of the Board’s preparedness: "We’ve scheduled engagements with all curriculum implementers to eliminate bottlenecks. Our readiness is absolute."
He added: "We proactively resolved past exam challenges to prevent future delays."—
