At Cavendish University Uganda’s graduation, wisdom was emphasized as the most vital asset.
KAMPALA, UGANDA – At the 14th graduation ceremony of Cavendish University Uganda, Chancellor Cavendish and the distinguished guest of honor, former President of Nigeria, His Excellency Goodluck Ebele Jonathan, imparted crucial advice to the new graduates, emphasizing that wisdom is the most vital asset in human life.
The event, held today at Speke Resort Munyonyo H.E. Jonathan inspired the 984 graduating students. He counseled them to persist in applying the knowledge they had acquired, stating that it is the key to unlocking their future success. He further highlighted the significant advantage of possessing a solid educational foundation in life.
In her address, the Vice Chancellor of Cavendish University, Dr. Olive Sabiiti, announced the institution's new strategic plan. This includes the establishment of a brand new green campus in Mukono district, which will be dedicated exclusively to training medical doctors.
Dr. Olubayi Olubayi, the head of the Cavendish University council,j expressed his pride and optimism. He underscored the university's commitment to empowering the nation's youth through its advanced technological approach to education.
The ceremony was also graced by Mr. Benard Paul Mono, the Managing Director of the East African Development Bank, as the guest speaker. Mr. Mono urged the graduates not to remain static but to proactively seek knowledge about future trends, especially those related to their established fields of study.
He remarked that the world is currently revolving around technology, and it is imperative for modern universities like Cavendish to integrate it into their core functions to effectively equip students for the workforce.
Drawing a powerful inspirational parallel, Mr. Mono encouraged the graduates to look to figures from the Holy Bible, such as David who defeated Goliath. He reminded them that, like these figures, they should not be intimidated by the challenges ahead but should courageously face them with the leadership skills they have cultivated.
The ceremony concluded with the graduates taking their oaths, pledging to diligently practice what they had learned. They were led in this pledge by David Mutabanura, the Head of Cavendish University Uganda.
The 14th graduation cohort comprised 984 students from 42 different countries, with Ugandan nationals making up 51% of the class and international students comprising 49%.
