The Minister of Youth and Sports in the Buganda Kingdom, Mr. Robert Sserwanga, has called upon the youth to make use of every opportunity that comes their way to achieve self-development.
Mr. Sserwanga made these remarks during his visit to Buvuma County, where he was officiating a ceremony to induct new youth leaders. He emphasized the importance of the youth in Buganda acting swiftly to take advantage of the opportunities available to them, as opportunities often come only once.
The Minister was accompanied by the County Chief of Buvuma, Mr. Micheal Mboowa, his deputies, and sub-county chiefs who work within the county. The event took place at Majjo Grounds.
One of the speakers at the event urged the youth to learn self-reliance, stating that everyone has the potential to rise to leadership positions or other areas of influence if they seize the opportunities available to them.
The County Chief of Buvuma, Michael Mboowa, challenged the youth to fulfill the responsibilities entrusted to them without hesitation.
The event was also attended by the Chairperson of the Buganda Youth Council, Mr. Baker Ssejengo, who encouraged the youth to remain focused, determined, and committed to their responsibilities.
However, the Chairperson of the Youth Council in Buvuma County, Mr. Ssemanda Ronald, in his report to the Minister, highlighted the challenges they face, including the need to establish Nkobazambogo (youth) service programs in schools to further develop the county.
The induction ceremony was organized by the Buvuma County Youth Council and will be followed by similar events at the sub-county and village levels.
