The Director of Finance at the President's Office, Ms. Jane Barekye, has launched the Youth Wealth Creation Program, following President Museveni's directive to allocate funds to empower young people through entrepreneurship.
Over 100 youth have been selected to benefit from this initiative, which will provide them with startup capital. The program was officially launched at the President's Office in Entebbe, with a focus on supporting young entrepreneurs in Nakawa and surrounding areas.
Ms. Jane Barekye, the Director of Finance at the President's Office, was the chief guest at the event. She was accompanied by Robert Rwakandare, the Director of Partnerships at the President's Office, who emphasized the importance of collaboration in driving the program's success.
The initiative was launched under the guidance of State House Comptroller Jane Barekye, in partnership with Faizo Ndase, the Director of Youth Development in Small-Scale Enterprises. The program aims to equip young people with the tools and resources needed to lift themselves out of poverty and contribute to national development.
As part of the launch, the President's Office distributed various items to the selected youth, including Nagano carts, wheelbarrows, sacks of rice, hoes, watering cans, and other essential tools for starting small businesses.
Faizo Ndase, who is overseeing the program, explained that President Museveni is committed to ensuring that young people have access to employment opportunities. He emphasized that the items provided by State House are not for resale but are intended to help the youth expand their businesses and improve their household incomes.
In addition to providing startup capital, State House has also brought in experts to train the youth on how to manage their businesses effectively, generate income, and contribute to the development of their communities.
Local leaders, particularly those from Nakawa who have benefited from President Museveni's government programs, praised the initiative, stating that it will strengthen support for the NRM party.
The Youth Wealth Creation Program is part of the government's broader efforts to address youth unemployment and poverty, empowering young people to become self-reliant and active participants in the country's economic growth.
